Located in close proximity to nature-reserve Simojoki River in the Raiskio village of Ranua, a dream holiday destination for nature lovers. Villa Wikkelä is a haven of peace and tranquility, and is surrounded by forest, river and field landscapes. This keeps you far away enough from daily hustle and bustle, and closer to the sound of nature and the smell of fresh air.
The large windows in the living room and sauna offer an unobstructed view of the Simojoki river. What could be more relaxing and mind calming to watch the constantly changing nature, for example, in the warmth of the fireplace or from the sauna! With a little luck the northern lights can be seen directly from the sauna or from the bed in the bedroom.
The large, covered and glazed terrace allows you to be in fresh air even on some rainy days. Gas heaters and a fireplace there are installed to lighten the atmosphere, and with the gas grill you can prepare an evening meal or snack easily and comfortably.
Wikkelä has three double bedrooms and a loft with two beds. High-quality hotel-standard beds and bed linen are used. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and high-quality Arabian Iittala dishes and utensils.
The traditional wooden sauna on the bank of the river can also be heated up for a more authentic sauna experience. The river can be reached easily from both saunas for a fresh water dip, and there is also an idyllic fireplace in front of the beach sauna for easy evening meals.
Villa Wikkelä is located in a village of less than ten houses in Raiskio. It is 18 kilometers from the center of Ranua and 15 kilometers from Ranua Resort Zoo.
It is only about an hour drive from Ranua, inter alia, to Rovaniemi Arctic Circle and Santa Claus village, to Kemi for the ice castle and icebreaker cruise, to Iso-Syötte for skiing or to Posio to see the wonderful Korouma canyon and Pentik village.
All-year-round activity equipment is available for rent. SUP boards, snowmobiles, bicycles, snowshoes, downhill skis, ATVs, etc. offer you an unforgettable experience. The free-flowing Simojoki is Finland’s only free salmon river besides Tenojoki and is a perfect place for fishermen to test their skills. Other surrounding water bodies and hunting grounds create good opportunities for different hobbies throughout the year.
Less than a kilometer from Wikkelä, you can find an official snowmobile route, which will lead you to different parts of Lapland. Ranua’s famous cloudberry swamps are also only a few minutes’ walk from the villa.
An all-inclusive and taylormade holiday experience can be arranged per your request. We are currently landscaping the yard of Wikkelä Villa to be even more comfortable. Therefore, some parts of the yard are covered in gravel. The landscaping will be completed during the winter of 2023.
